The upcoming FBK Games in Hengelo are set to be an exciting event for pole vaulting fans, as Mondo Duplantis, the current world record holder, has confirmed his participation. The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting will take place on June 4 at the Fanny Blankers Koen Stadium, where Duplantis has already made his mark by breaking records.

This will be Duplantis’ third time competing at the stadium, and he has a history of breaking records there. He set a new meeting record in 2021 with a clearance of 6.10m, which is the highest vault ever recorded on Dutch soil. Only he and Sergey Bubka have managed to jump higher outdoors.

Duplantis is excited to perform in front of the enthusiastic crowd that has always cheered him on and created an amazing atmosphere. In 2020, he claimed his second FBK Games win in as many years, despite the wet and cold weather, with a 6.01m clearance.

“The crowd in the grandstands always cheers me on, creating this amazing atmosphere that gives me extra energy. I can’t wait to return and experience it all again,” said Duplantis. “Also, the FBK Stadium is a place where you can really deliver and jump high, so I am looking forward to seeing what I can do in Hengelo this year.”

Duplantis will be joined by other world-class athletes at the FBK Games, including Femke Bol and Lieke Klaver, both world indoor 400m record-holders. The meeting organisers confirmed their participation earlier this year.

The Fanny Blankers Koen Stadium will undoubtedly be buzzing with excitement on June 4, and with Duplantis in the mix, there is sure to be some electrifying action.
